A pelagic fishery town opened in Dinghai district, Zhoushan city, Zhejiang province, on Aug 23, attracting over 10,000 visitors to enjoy exciting performances and delicious seafood at the opening ceremony.

The town, covering 3.18 square kilometers, is located at the center of the Zhoushan National Pelagic Fishery Base.

Focused on producing green and healthy seafood, it is designed to be built into a special town of fishery related cultural elements, with special zones set up for food processing, logistics and entertainment.

A highlight of the town is the Fishermen's Plaza located at its core area. Covering 80,000 square meters, it is composed of one dock, two commercial streets, six themed blocks and a 500-meter-long coastline, infusing local and exotic features into its pelagic fishery businesses.

The town was added on the list of the provincial-level special towns in 2016 and has now become a national 3A-level scenic spot.

It will seek to produce healthy aquatic products through innovation in the future and advance the development of a new batch of businesses integrating fishery culture, tourism, catering and e-commerce.
