JAKARTA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) fully believes that the next Asian Games in Hangzhou four years later will be a success, saying on Tuesday that "Hangzhou will start the era of smart Games."
"I have a promise by the city, smart Games will start in Hangzhou," said Sheikh Ahmad. "We start the professional Games in Bangkok in 1998. I think the smart Games will start from Hangzhou 2022."
According to the OCA president, it's a challenge for both Hangzhou and OCA to host a smart Games, as he said that "big challenge is not the organization, not the preparation, not the facilities, but the scheme of smart Games."
The president admitted that the Jakarta Games is a difficult one as the hosts have only more than three years in preparation after Vietnam, the original host, pulled out due to financial setbacks.
"But the Games by now is a success. The opening ceremony was very amazing that makes not only us but also Indonesians themselves very proud. Although there are small mistakes in organization work during the past two days, we are very confident we will continue the success until the closing ceremony," said the president.
