The opening ceremony of the first Flower Sea Food Festival is to be held at the Western Henan Baicao Garden in Lushi county, Sanmenxia from Aug 25 to 26.
The garden received its investment of 15 million yuan ($2.2 million) from Western Henan Grand Canyon and aims to be a comprehensive tourism destination integrating the science popularization of traditional Chinese herbs with eco-agricultural sightseeing, rural idyllic landscapes, delicious food of the Western Henan.
Taking full advantage of the 28 abandoned farmhouses of Xinping village in Guandaokou town of Lushi county, the garden transformed the farmhouses into traditional ancient villages, and reclaimed more than 1000 mu (66.7 hectares) farmlands to grow flowers, fruit trees, and Chinese herbs. The move has given the garden enormous economic and social benefits. Meanwhile, it was named a national 4A level scenic spot in 2017, and listed as an example of financial and industrial poverty relief project.
The garden also introduced circus performance and traditional yangge dance (popular rural folk dance) to enrich the tourism sights and contents, which received a warm welcome from the visitors. In order to promote the scenic spot, visitors will be offered free tickets during the food festival.
