Jilin strengthened its communication with the world by inviting 69 foreign ambassadors and their families to tour across three major cities in the northeastern province from Aug 17 to 21.
The first stop of the trip was Changchun, the provincial capital of Jilin province. International guests were deeply impressed by the modern planting technique exhibited in the Agricultural Expo Garden. The artistic shapes of the precious Songhua Stones at the Baji Songhua Stone & Jewelry Exhibition and Appreciation Center introduced the audiences to a characteristic jewelry industry in Jilin. They also witnessed the automobile industrial development of the province in FAW Group, a Changchun-based Chinese state-owned automotive manufacturing company.
Upon arriving in Jilin city on Aug 19, the ambassadors and their families immediately gravitated towards the beautiful natural scenery and harmonious urban environment of the city. The Jilin City Museum and the Jilin Manchu Museum also offered the audience a chance to understand the profound culture and history of the city.
On Aug 20, the guests reached Yanji, capital of Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, which is a dwelling city of the Korean ethnic group in eastern Jilin province. They visited the Yanbian Museum to appreciate cultural relics, enjoyed a distinctive ethnic performance at Yanji Convention & Arts Center, and experienced wonderful folk activities including trying their hands at making kimchi.
"The air is fresh, the environment is beautiful and the people here are kind and hospitable. And of course, I enjoy the local food very much!" said Jeffery Banda, a minister from the Republic of Zambia, on the last day of his visit.
