Caterpillar Research & Development Center (China) Co (CRDC, 卡特彼勒技术研发(中国)有限公司), established in 2005, is headquartered in Wuxi, Jiangsu province with branches in Qingdao, Tianjin and Wuxi.
Covering an area of 31,290 square meters, CRDC is one of the four enterprises in Wuxi founded by Caterpillar Inc with a total investment of 500 million US dollars and forming a complete industrial chain from R&D to production.
The company, with the aims of conducting R&D, providing globally leading intellectual property management, and supporting the development of Caterpillar Inc in China, has become the largest R&D center outside the United States, with more than 30 advanced laboratories and training facilities, including the first virtual simulation lab of the construction machinery industry in China.
It also designed a one- to three-year training program for fresh graduates, including professional training, corporate-culture training, and overseas training, to cultivate talents in management and technology. So far, some 105 people have passed the training program.
Besides, CRDC takes an active part in public welfare, including offering a scholarship for students in Jiangnan University and Harbin Institute of Technology, and sponsoring middle school students to take part in the scientific and technological competition organized by FIRST Organization.
