Twenty traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) doctors accepted teacher's posts from inheritors at the celebration ceremony of the first Chinese Medicine Workers' Day held in the Changsha Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine on Aug 15.
The 20 TCM doctors are famous experts from Changsha hospitals with high academic achievements, rich clinical experience, and a certain amount of influence in Changsha, and the 20 inheritors are excellent youth with solid theoretical knowledge of basic medicine and clinical experience.
Zhou Xijiang, a chief physician of TCM with more than 20 years of experience, hopes to take full advantage of the platform to learn from other experts and serve his patients.
Changsha has taken measures to train a TCM expert inheritance work team by establishing a TCM studio. As of today, 140 tutors have agreed to train 187 inheritors in 14 TCM studios, including one at national level, two at national grassroots level, one at provincial level, and 10 at municipal level. The city has provided strong support for the development of traditional Chinese medicine by strengthening its promotion of the master-apprentice system.
Liu Ding'an, who established the first national TCM inheritance studio in Changsha, said that TCM has become a symbol for rehabilitation and healthcare, but it is actually extremely effective against chronic diseases.
Liu also emphasized the importance of the master-apprentice system and is willing to teach inheritors through verbal instruction.
Zhou Min, Communist Party secretary of the Changsha Health and Family Planning Commission, said that the training of grassroots doctors using TCM knowledge and skills to prevent and cure common diseases in rural areas will be improved in the future.
