New cargo train improves logistics in NE China

A train carrying 99 cars bound for Mudanjiang city in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province embarked on its maiden trip from the Xinxiangfang International Container Center in Harbin, provincial capital of Heilongjiang on Aug 14.

The train successfully arrived at Mudanjiang Railway Station after an 11-hour journey.

The new cargo service was launched by Harbin bureau of China Railway, China Railway Special Cargo Services CO and Chongqing Zhongji Automobile Logistics Co, in an effort to help improve efficiency and save costs for bulk cargo transportation by using trains to replace trucks.

The service is designed to serve the needs of the vast Northeast China region which suffers from long, harsh winters. In the past, the size and conditions of the area have resulted in high costs and poor efficiency for bulk cargo transportation, especially for transporting high-value cars. 

Now, bulk cargo to be transported to 16 middle and small-sized cities in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces; will first be transferred to Xinxiangfang International Container Center in Harbin, before being transported to other cities on trains equipped with high-tech equipment to assure the safety of their cargoes.
