Zhaojun Museum, in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, completed its expansion work and reopened to the public in June.

In 2016, the museum launched its innovation and expansion program by reorganizing the museum into three areas: an exhibition area, a mausoleum area and an amusement area.

The exhibition area, covering 15,092 square meters, was constructed in the style of the architecture of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24).

According to Wu Gaoming, the museum curator, a 5D cinema and a new section are the highlights of the expansion work.

The new museum displays the history of heqin, which literally means "peace-making marriage". This was a policy adopted in Western Han Dynasty to make peace with neighboring regions through intermarriage. It was the first such policy in China.

The amusement area features lawns, trees and ornamental flowers, offering a beautiful environment for visitors to rest in.

Wu explained that the Zhaojun Museum can now accommodate 4,000 visitors a day.
