Jueshan Mountain

Jueshan Mountain on the south bank of the Danhe River in southeast of Jincheng city has two peaks with the altitude of the main peak being 973 meters.

There are many Buddhist and Taoist temples, and Confucius memorials on the mountain, such as Baimachan Temple, which was built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), and Erxian Taoist Temple, which dates from the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

Jueshan Mountain has been a famous mountain for appreciating the moon since ancient times. During the Mid-Autumn Festival each year, locals decorate buildings on the top of the mountain, especially the two peaks between which the full moon glows, offering visitors unique night scenery.

Also, there is an annual pilgrimage and worship event which falls on the third day of the third month in the Chinese lunar calendar to celebrate the birthday of Taoist god Zhenwu.

Jueshan Mountain scenic area was listed as a national 5A tourist attraction in 2009.
