The exports of Hechi city achieved 190 million yuan ($27.7 million) in the first half of this year, including 100 million yuan of cocoon silk products, 10 times more than the same period of 2017.
With more than a 50 percent share of exports, the city's cocoon silk products outperformed traditional cane products for the first time.
Hechi's silk is mainly exported by private enterprises and the goods are dealt in ordinary trade channels to major export markets including Romania, India and Vietnam. With a total export value of 97.82 million yuan, the mulberry silk exports increased 9.8 times in the first half of the year and were the bulk of the silk product trade.
