The 27-kilometer Wuchuan feeder of the Shantou-Zhanjiang Highway is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of 2019.
The dual four-lane structure is designed for a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour. It starts from Longtou town in Zhanjiang's Potou district, and runs through the Tangduo High-speed Railway Station and Zhanjiang International Airport before ending in Changqu town, Wuchuan.
Upon completion, the feeder will serve as a fast-track connecting Zhanjiang with its county-level city Wuchuan. It will also serve as a transition between the road, airport, and railway transport modules, which is essential to the formation of a regional comprehensive transport network and local socioeconomic development.
