A special dance performed by young Taiwan dancers was widely acclaimed on Aug 14 at the Guangzhou Qiqiao Cultural Festival.
The dance tells of the daily life of the aborigines of Taiwan - the Amis - including their farm life, hunting activities, harvest festivals and weddings, offering Guangzhou residents a chance to gain a better understanding of Amis culture through both audio and visual means.
The cultural exchanges between Guangzhou and Taiwan at the Qiqiao Cultural Festival are a result of the communication platform built by the Guangzhou Taiwan Compatriot Association and Tianhe district. The city of Tainan has participated in the festival's opening ceremony, seminars, and symposiums for nine consecutive years, and has played a major role in promoting cultural exchanges.
