Temperatures remain high in some Chinese cities, including Tai'an, Shandong province, even as Aug 7 saw the arrival of the solar term Start of Autumn, usually marking the beginning of an easing in the hot summer weather.
However, people can cool themselves off in some scenic spots in Tai'an during summer. Here is a rundown of these places.
1. Mount Tai Scenic Area
Mount Tai, a place of worship for more than 3,000 years, has its tallest peak Jade Emperor Peak rising 1,545 meters above the surrounding plateau. It's a national five-star scenic spot located in Tai'an, Shandong province.
The temperature varies a lot from the foot of Mount Tai to its top. The average temperature at the foot of the mountain in July is around 26 C while on the mountaintop it is about 18 C. Mount Tai is really a good place to avoid summer heat.
