The most complicated piano in the world with more than 100,000 parts is displayed at the Piano Museum in Gulangyu Island.
Piano Museum on Gulangyu Island
Gulangyu Island, listed as a world cultural heritage site last year, is also dubbed the Island of Pianos because more than 100 musical families once lived in the 1.87-square kilometer area.
The Piano Museum exhibits more than 40 old pianos donated by Hu Youyi, a renowned pianist and patriotic overseas Chinese, including a gilded piano, a piano with four corners, the earliest one in the world, and a mechanical piano operated by pumping pedals.
Admiring these antique instruments while listening to their beautiful sound is quite an experience, with a piano performance being staged at a fixed time every day.
