Venture capital week connects innovation, industry, talents, and capital

The opening ceremony of the second Guangzhou Venture Capital Week was held at the city's Venture Capital Town on Aug 6.

Sponsored by the Guangzhou science technology and innovation commission and the Haizhu district government, the venture capital week is aimed at helping enterprises to connect with capital and industry and luring financial institutions and social capital to jointly support the innovation and development of science and technology enterprises.

The finals of the 7th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Guangzhou) are being held at the same time, with 650 companies competing against each other over the following 10 days.

Zheng Haitao, deputy head of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, said that the second Guangzhou Venture Capital Week has seen more participants and showed greater social influence compared with last year's event. He said his department will roll out some new measures to further promote the development of sci-tech finance, vigorously supporting the development of venture capital, and better servicing the technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises.

According to insiders, in th next 10 days the 2018 Venture Capital Week will be results-oriented, build a docking platform, offer awards totaling 100 million yuan ($14.6 million), explore and cultivate small and medium-sized technology enterprises and bring together more than 1,000 technology companies and financial institutions.
