Shenyang marathon waits for pistol shot

The 2018 Shenyang International Marathon is set to open in Shenyang, capital city of Northeast China’s Liaoning province on Sept 9 this year. 

The event will provide an opportunity for the runners to enjoy Shenyang's beautiful urban landscape and help further promote the city to the world.

This year’s marathon will display various improvements, including the competitions, the design of the racing tracks, the event schedule, the security service, as well as a special designed mascot for the event. 

Besides the normal full marathon and half marathon, there will be a 10-kilometer race and 4-kilometer mini marathon designed specifically for families and couples.

It is estimated that about 20,000 will participate in the international marathon event, and 3,500 will join the full marathon, 5,500 the half, 7000 will take part in the mini marathon and 4,000 will run the new 10-kilometer race.

This is the third consecutive year for Shenyang to hold the marathon.

The Sports Bureau of Shenyang Municipality, the event's sponsor, hopes to turn the marathon into a name card for Shenyang.

The registrations for the event started on Aug 2. People can sign up through the official website, or consult the organization committee of the event by calling 024-31123469/024-22690553.

It is highly recommended to take a physical examination before signing up.

Registration fees are as follows:

Full marathon: 150 yuan ($21.8) per person

Half marathon: 120 yuan per person

10-kilometer race: 80 yuan per person

Mini marathon: 50 yuan per person
