Shanghai's ports of entry began granting a new 24-hour visa-free transit and an emergency temporary entry permit as of Aug 1.
Shanghai is the first city to try out these two temporary entry permits in the country. The new permits use multiple anti-fraud measures such as the application of a QR code for the convenience of both passengers and service personnel.
The move is expected to regulate the issuance of temporary entry permits, improve port efficiency, and make it more convenient for overseas passengers to pass through customs checks.
