The city of Guangzhou announced the opening of another marine shipping route at Guangzhou Container Terminal on July 31 as a cargo vessel docked at Huangpu from Inchon.

The ship Acacia Libra belongs to the South Korean shipping giant Pan Ocean and discharged 583 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) at the terminal which was already operating three sea routes to South Korea.

The new route, running three times a week, is expected to greatly improve the logistics efficiency of cargo circulation between the Pearl River Delta region and the "Seoul-Busan" economic circle in South Korea.

According to Yan Ping, manager of the business department of Guangzhou Container Terminal, in the first half of the year the container import and export volume of the South Korean routes increased by 28.5 percent year-on-year. She said that the great achievements came not only from the stable development of trade between the two countries, but also the efforts made by Xingang Customs in terms of active promotion of water transport business, the development of smart ports, and customs clearance procedural cuts.

Since the beginning of this year, Xingang Customs has been actively promoting cross-border trade facilitation, upgrading the entire chain process, and enhancing smart construction of their services to improve clearance efficiency. Currently, the times required for import and export customs clearance are 40.15 percent and 58.53 percent shorter than those of last year.

According to Zhang Xuejing, head of Xingang Customs, his offices will further strengthen cooperation with Guangzhou Container Terminal and continue to provide enterprises with low-cost and convenient clearance services to better promote local economic development.
