Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, has recently rolled out a new proposal mapping out a blueprint for the city's international development over the next two years, according to a conference held on July 31.

The proposal, centering on the development of the city's transportation systems, the development of new trade and financial centers and improving the international business environment of the city, is a significant step in Hangzhou's attempts to further open up and increase the city's global status.

According to the proposal, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is expected by 2020 to have flights to more than 50 cities in China and abroad, with a passenger throughput of 46 million.

Eleven high-speed railways, six passenger stations and nine railway terminals will also be built over the next two years.

In addition, the city plans to build a new trade center and financial center by facilitating the development of a cross border e-commerce and financial service system.

According to the proposal, Hangzhou aims to create a first-class international business climate in the city and they will do it from two aspects: Firstly, accelerating reforms in customs clearance for an open and transparent investment climate. Secondly, streamlining administrative procedures to improve the working efficiency of government departments.
