A cultural festival highlighting Mongolian ethnic tradition and customs was held in Ergune (Ergun), Inner Mongolia autonomous region on July 18.
The event was celebrated with characteristic Mongolian performances including Morin Khuur, Mongolian long-tune, Mongolian-style dancing, and folk costume exhibitions.
The festival also included horse racing, equestrian skills demonstration, Bohk, Mongolian archery contest, and Aobao worship ceremony, gathering the participation of hundreds of locals.
In recent years, the tourism industry in Ergune has developed rapidly. In the first half of this year, the number of tourists reached 1.1 million and the tourism income reached 923 million yuan ($135 million), with a year-on-year increase of 3.1 percent and 7.83 percent respectively.
The focus on ethnic culture in the process of boosting local tourism development is even more prominent. At the same time, it has become the tendency that tourists yearn for.
