The ground-breaking ceremony of an unmanned aerial vehicles (UVA) production project was held at an industrial park in Shanzhou district, Sanmenxia on July 29.
The project was jointly launched by China Aerospace Construction Group and a Beijing-based technology company. With an investment of 4 billion yuan ($586 million), the project will cover an area of 800 mu (53.33 hectares). The production base will consist of an office area, testing and final assembly plants, research and development center, a national key laboratory of UAV equipment research and test flight area.
The 302 Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited will provide its advantageous riches in terms of technologies, production, sales and management for the UAV project, which is estimated to contribute 5.5 billion yuan to the local GDP once it becomes operational.
The first stage of the project will cover an area of 100 mu and cost 600 million yuan, which will provide about 700 jobs.
The project, according to reports of Henan Daily, is an important step for Sanmenxia to realize industrial transformation and upgrading, as well as a move to implement the industrial development of the army-civilian integration.
