Stunning aerial photos over EjinHoroo Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, have gone viral, delighting not only ecologists but fans of landscape photography.
These photos were shot to record the beauty of the area as the primary work of water management project in EjinHoroo Banner recently concluded.
The city initiated the project about two months ago, which was designed to enhance its capability to channel floods and improve its ecological environment.
The project focused on restoration of the floodwater draining channel, restoration of the East and West Honghezi river channels and of the Zhangganghe River channel.
The floodwater draining channel that had been upgraded extends 4,468 kilometers, covering 500,000 square meters. By the date of the local news release, a series of work including construction of five overflow dams, installing of the warning signs and protective guards and the greening of the water areas had been completed.
The Zhanggangtu River channel restoration included clearing out the rubbish, weeds and sludge, supplementing water into the channel and planting grass to make the surrounding areas more scenic. A music fountain will also be soon available for local residents.
As for the East and West Honghaizi rivers, the length of the water channel that had been upgraded was 3,026 kilometers, covering 186,000 square meters.
The completion of the water management project signals that the major rivers and lakes in EjinHoroo Banner will be connected, forming a circulating water system.
The water area in the city will increase to 1.97 million square meters, with 13 square meters more in average for each person in the area.
