For most of us, helicopter rappelling may be merely a movie scene, but it also can be used to save lives.
In an emergency air rescue drill in Guangzhou's Nansha district, a helicopter was deployed to save two drowning men and it only took four minutes to bring them back to safety.
The operation was held by Nansha's natural disaster prevention authority in collaboration with Kingwing Aviation, a civil aviation company dedicated to providing emergency medical services. The drill was aimed at testing and improving the ability of rescue teams under real-life conditions.
According to a staff member from Nansha's natural disaster prevention authority, helicopters are able to save people from danger when dinghies and boats fail to work.
The helicopter AW139 used in the drill is a model specifically for emergency service. It's equipped with electrocardiogram monitors, cardiac defibrillators and breathing machines.
