Located at the border of Fujian and Jiangxi provinces, Wuyi Mountain covers a total of 999.75 sq km and is one of China's top scenic spots and summer resorts.
Numerous temples and monasteries have been built on the mountain since the Qin (306--206 BC) and Han (206 BC -- 26 AD) dynasties. The mountain was also once a lecture site for the promotion of Confucianism.
In addition to its cultural treasures about 2,527 kinds of plants and nearly 5,000 types of animals can be found here.
