Located in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, Hefei Economic and Technological Development Area was founded on April 3,1993 and upgraded to a State-level development zone in February 2000.
The zone is home to Hefei Export Processing Zone and Hefei Airport Economic Zone,covering an area of 258.57 sq km, with an industrial cluster area of 42.34 sq km, an urban construction area of 62.88 sq km and an agricultural land area of 153.35 sq km.
The east part of the zone centers on industrial development and the west is a business culture area, boasting Hefei College Town, International Business Center District and International Community.
Numerous industrial parks are also in the construction plan, including Microelectronics Industry Park, Life Science and Technology Park, Pharmaceutical Health Industrial Park, Housing Industrial Base and Nanyanhu Outsourcing Demonstration Base.
The zone is playing a critical role in Hefei’s development program. In 2016, the total output value of industries above designated size in the zone amounted to 291 billion yuan ($43.53 billion) and the industrial added value was up to 62.5 billion yuan. In 2016, Hefei Export Processing Zone ranked sixth among all the national export processing zones.
The zone has received many national honors, including National-level New Industrial Demonstration Base (Household Appliances), National Eco-industrial Demonstration Zone, National Housing Industrial Base and National Low-carbon Industrial Park.
