Two villages in Sanmenxia are listed as demonstration villages for One Village One Product (OVOP) in a notice recently released by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The two villages are Nanwudi village in Mianchi, famous for its Yangshao tribute rice, and Qiandian village in Lingbao city, known for Changsheng mushrooms. So far Sanmenxia has six OVOP demonstration villages in all.
One Village One Product (OVOP) means that every village should have a leading agricultural product with regional characteristics on the market.
According to the notice, local governments will continue to offer support and guidance to OVOP demonstration villages to create a better development environment for them.
The notice also pointed out that local governments will strengthen their efforts to help the OVOP villages to develop their own brands, expand the multiple functions of agriculture and develop new business types for the industry.
The OVOP villages will play a key role in achieving a deeper integration of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries, and provide solid industrial support for the national rural revitalization strategy.
