Boasting a pleasant climate, wonderful landscapes and wide beaches, the coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province is a surefire popular summer tourist destination.
Situated in the eastern part of the Shandong Peninsula, the city is endowed with about 230 offshore islands and seven natural bays along its 1,038 km-long coastline.
The Major Heat (Chinese: 大暑), the 12th solar term of the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, began on July 23 this year, and for most parts of China, it is the hottest time of the year. Yantai's beaches, with their pleasant sea breezes, are therefore the perfect choice for vacationers to cool off during the scorching summer days.
