The China Maker innovation contest for young people was launched in Beijing on Thursday, a competition aimed at developing creative thinking in the fields of science and technology.
The event was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's information center and Beijing-based Zhengtian Technology Co, in conjunction with Beijing Zhonglian Intelligent Technology Co.
The aim of the contest is to stimulate young people's creative thinking and encourage them to act on their original ideas, according to the organizers.
Young people are curious about the known and unknown world, which is primal power for scientific research, says Tong Xiaomin, chief engineer at the MIIT's information center.
Participants are expected to learn through intellectual design and model assembly programs during the competition, to help better prepare for the nation's industrial development.
