A Japanese delegation headed by Nakamura Seiji, senator of the Fukuoka prefecture, visited Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, on July 12.
The delegation went to a bookstore on the historic Dongguan Street, the home to 220 koi carps, which Fukuoka donated to Jiangsu in 2017 in celebration of 25 years of the friendly relationship between the two sides.
The visit is also expected to promote cooperation in nursery stock, medicine and tourism.
Wei Guoqiang, a local official, said that the koi carps are more than a symbol of fortune, they also symbolize the friendly relationship between China and Japan.
The Japanese senator said Yangzhou is a culturally rich and beautiful city, and expressed his hopes for more diversified cooperation to be carried out in the future.
