The handover ceremony of the Arthur Chung Conference Center project, constructed by the China Railway 17th Group based in Shanxi province, was recently held in Georgetown, the capital city of Guyana.
The China Railway 17th Group was responsible for the renovation and equipment updates of the conference center, which is China's only construction project in Guyana..
First built in 2004, the Arthur Chung Conference Center was once called the Guyana International Conference Center. It was later renamed in honor of the country's first Chinese president, Arthur Chung, and symbolizes the friendship between China and Guyana.
President David Granger, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and Cui Jianchun, Chinese ambassador to Guyana, attended the ceremony. They expressed their gratitude to the constructors and hoped that the two countries will deepen their cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
