Gaoyou, a satellite city of Yangzhou, unveiled its city logo and mascots on July 16, with the aim of promoting regional culture and tourism.
The red and white logo features the Chinese character of post (邮), an inspiration from the city name. It resembles the ancient Chinese postmark and symbolizes the city's 3,000 years of rich postal culture.
The orange and red mascots are designed in the shape of a salted duck egg, a local specialty famous for its briny aroma, gelatin-like egg white, and the firm-textured and round yolk.
A series of cultural creative products featuring the city logo and mascots were also unveiled.
The city released a promotional slogan – "Good things happen in pairs in Gaoyou" – a salute to a traditional Chinese saying and appreciation of the city's two well-preserved postal stations, two ancient pagodas, and the local delicacy double-yolked duck eggs.
Gou Fengcheng, secretary of the Gaoyou Municipal Party Committee, said the slogan is an embodiment of Gaoyou's past, present and future, and will play a vital role in promoting the city's cultural and tourism development.
Under the name of the slogan, the city is planning to design a cultural block and open up various music and food festivals.
