China's first demonstration project of smart bus terminals will get off the ground in November in Qianhai, Shenzhen, according to reports from local media outlet sznews.com on July 17.
The smart bus terminal, the first of its kind in China, will provide better waiting environment and seamless transfer experience. It employs multiple technologies like internet of things (IoT), big data and cloud computing to integrate services like customized bus routes, car renting, fast delivery, and charging for new energy cars.
According to urban planning, 39 smart bus terminals are scheduled to be established with a total building area of 119,000 square meters.
Apart from bus terminals, more than 350 smart bus stops will also be established in Qianhai. The smart bus stops will utilize technologies that can provide real-time timetable, emergency call, free WiFi, and can even adjust shifts and routes according to the measured commuter flow.
