Academicians offer suggestions on provincial rejuvenation

A group of academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering gathered in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province on July 14.

Party chief of Jilin province, Bayin Chaolu, and governor Jing Junhai held a meeting with the delegation, which was led by former vice presidents of CAS and the CAE, Wang Fosong and Liu Xu.

Bayin Chaolu thanked the experts for their support for Jilin's rejuvenation before a brief introduction to the economic and social development of the province.

Jilin province considers innovation as the chief driving economic force and has made significant achievements in developing emerging industries and nurturing new engines for its economic growth, according to Bayinchaolu.

"Jilin is now in the critical stage of a new round of comprehensive revitalization," he said, adding that it is striving to explore a new path based on "Digital Jilin" and intelligent manufacturing.

The delegates all agreed that there is great potential for innovation-driven growth in Jilin and said they would play an active role in the province's rejuvenation and contribute more to scientific and technological innovation, introduction of cutting edge technologies and cultivation of high-end professionals.
