A total of 2.24 million tourists visited Jinpu New Area in Dalian, Liaoning province, during the 2018 Dalian Cherry Festival, which concluded July 12, representing a year-on-year increase of 10.1 percent.
Tourists from home and abroad created consumption of 2.72 billion yuan ($407.7 million), including 30 million yuan for entrance tickets and more than 80 million for catering.
They picked nearly 8,000 tons of cherries at 170 orchards in the area, bringing 690 million yuan of income to local farmers.
During the 30-day festival, nearly 1 million kilograms of cherries were transported from Dalian cherry trade market to more than 20 provinces and cities around the country every day. More than 7,000 tons of cherries produced in Jinpu were sold through online shopping platforms, including Jingdong, Taobao and WeChat, with a turnover of 250 million yuan.
