Tianjin has planted 377,000 acres of trees this year, 107.7 percent of its overall target.

Differing from past years, this year Tianjin has put more emphasis on the overall effect of afforestation by taking into account agricultural adjustment, farmland and water conservancy, and construction of characteristic residential houses, characteristic towns and beautiful villages.

Jinnan district, Dongli district, Xiqing district and Binhai New Area have increased afforestation by 7400 acres along the starting edge of the green ecological barrier. In Wuqing and Beichen districts, which are dominated by agriculture, green shaded areas along the roads and railways have been dotted with colorfully-leafed plants. Baodi district, Jinghai district, and Ninghe district have expanded tree plantations between farmlands. Jinzhou district, for its part, has focused on controlling the sources of wind-borne sand.
