Hejin county in Shanxi province launched a foreign cultural communication week with Germany on July 10, marking a move to further its opening-up.
The event, which will last until July 17, will include a culture and arts exhibition, a forum on economic growth driven by new momentum, a China-Germany culture and arts exchange meeting and folk custom shows from Hejin county.
The exhibition featuring German culture and arts will be held in Lianchi Park in the downtown area of the county, showcasing its country's industrial arts, folk customs, beer processing techniques and architectural culture.
There will be various galas, including a concert by German bands, a football-themed gala and a Puju Opera show.
The Hejin-Germany cultural communication week is aimed at promoting Hejin's overseas profile and seeking foreign collaboration. Through the event, more partnerships between Hejin and Germany in economy, trade and culture are expected to be created.
Hejin has been committed to developing a more open county since 2017. It has set up a Belt and Road Initiative office and a regional cooperation office, which organized for entrepreneurs to gain experience in Macao and Hong Kong and arranged for people from 32 countries to visit Hejin.
In addition, the county has established friendships with Ekibastuz in Kazakhstan and Herceg Novi in Montenegro, and founded business representative offices in Germany and Australia.
