Nanyang takes relay baton to host 2019 WFRS Regional Convention

The flag of the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) has been handed over to Nanyang, as the city is going to hold the next WFRS Regional Convention from April 27 to May 2, 2019.

Mrs. Henrianne de Briey, president of WFRS, and Mrs. Helga Brichet, chairman of the conference committee, gave the flag to Nanyang delegation at the 18th World Rose Convention held in Copenhagen, Denmark from June 28 to July 6.

The delegation consisting of representatives from the Nanyang Municipal People's Government and the China Flower Association (CFA) Rose Chinensis Branch attended the conference and showed a promotional film for the 2019 WFRS Regional Convention.

Zhao Shiwei, vice president of WFRS and deputy president of CFA Rose Chinensis Branch, reported on the preparations for the 2019 WFRS Regional Convention. Nanyang's history, culture, facilities, tourism, and rose industry were introduced to more than 500 delegates from 26 countries.

The delegation also set up an information desk to distribute promotional materials, conduct exchanges with delegates from various countries, and invite delegates to attend the congress that will be held in Nanyang next year.

The WFRS Regional Convention and the World Rose Convention are both held in turn by the 41 members of WFRS every three years. The 2019 WFRS Regional Convention will be the second time the congress is held in China.

Nanyang will learn from the 2016 Beijing WFRS Regional Convention and attract more rose lovers to Nanyang to participate in the rose festival next year.
