Hainan Airlines has become one of the top 500 most profitable companies in the country, according to the latest China Fortune 500 list released on July 10.
The company generated a business income of 59.9 billion yuan ($8.98 billion) and a net profit of 3.32 billion yuan last year. Its ranking on the list rose from 162 the year before to 133 this year.
Established in Hainan in 1993, Hainan Airlines has developed into one of the world's top 10 performing airlines. It has received the coveted international five-star rating from industry research firm Skytrax for seven years, and has 1,050 air routes and 17.99 percent of market share in the domestic airline market.
The list, compiled by Fortune China and CICC Wealth Management, examines the performance and achievements of China's largest listed companies over the past year.
The 500 companies on the list saw total revenue of 39.65 trillion yuan, up 18.22 percent from the previous year. Net profit rose 24.24 percent to 3.48 trillion yuan. The threshold of annual revenue for being included in this year's list is 13.86 billion yuan, up 22.44 percent from a year earlier.
China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, PetroChina Company Limited, and China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited continue to hold the first three places, unchanged from last year.
