Xiangjiang New Area

Located on the west bank of Xiangjiang River in Changsha, capital of Hunan province, Xiangjiang New Area was approved by the State Council on April 8, 2015 as the 12th national new area in the country and the first State-level new area in Central China.

In 2017, the New Area’s GDP reached 220.89 billion yuan ($32.92 billion), up 11.2 percent year on year; the industrial added value above designated size was 117.31 billion yuan, up 12 percent; the fixed asset investment rose by 16.3 percent year-on-year to 231.34 billion yuan; the total retail sales of consumer goods grew by 14.8 percent year-on-year to 69.71 billion yuan.

The Area is home to three State-level industrial parks -- Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Ningxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Wangcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone and two provincial parks -- Ningxiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Yuelu Scientific and Technological Industrial Park.

Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone aims to grow into a demonstration area for intelligent manufacturing and an internet-driven electronic information industrial cluster. It houses industries involving new energy and energy conservation and environmental protection.

Ningxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone is striving to develop an intelligent manufacturing demonstration zone and new material industrial cluster. It features the food and beverage industry.

Wangcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone focuses on developing the advanced manufacturing industry featuring intensive processing of nonferrous metals and the cluster of food processing industry. It is home to a cloud computing-driven electronic information industry.
