In order to promote the development of high-tech industries, Shenyang National New-high Technology Industrial Development Zone paid 32.15 million yuan ($4.83 million) in grants to new high-tech and large-scale enterprises, according to an announcement at a work conference on July 10.
It is the largest amount ever awarded, said an official from the high-tech zone.
There has been an explosion in the number of high-tech firms in Shenyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, with 240 firms currently based in the area, representing year-on-year growth of 45.5 percent, he added.
The growing number of tech firms is thought to be partially down to preferential policies enacted by the local government.
In addition, large companies are currently developing rapidly in the zone, with 174 firms producing a total industrial output of 46.15 billion yuan. At the same time, several other key industries are also seeing fast growth in the zone.
