Shenyang spends $60m to support the province’s disadvantaged

The Shenyang government spent nearly 400 million yuan ($60.41 million) to support the province’s disadvantaged in the first half of 2018 (January to June), according to the latest statistics from the Shenyang civil affairs bureau.

The amount of households who currently receive a basic living allowance from the Shenyang government amounts to 55,000, or 84,000 residents. In the first half of this year, 220 million yuan was given out as this allowance for both urban and rural residents across the province. 

For medical assistance, 70 percent of the medical expenses are being subsidized for 39,000 people, at an expense of 34.7 million yuan.

As for emergency assistance, 6.58 million yuan has been spent, assisting 6,926 people.

With regards to living security, Shenyang has plowed 46.49 million yuan into improving the lives of extremely impoverished people, meaning  the living expenses of orphans in the city are completely covered.
