The Liaoning section of the Beijing-Shenyang High-speed Railway Line is scheduled to commence operations by the end of 2018, Xinhua reported.
The Liaoning section runs for 406.8 kilometers; and connects Chengde city in North China’s Hebei province with Shenyang, capital city of Northeast China’s Liaoning province.
There are a total of 10 stations along the Liaoning section. When it starts operations, the journey from Shenyang to Fuxin will be shortened to 40 minutes, and the Shenyang-Chaoyang route will now take around an hour.
Tests on the new railway line started on March 1, with trains able to run at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour.
The Beijing-Shenyang HSR is 709 kilometers long and starts at Xinghuo Railway Station in Beijing and connects Chengde, Hebei province with Chaoyang and Fuxing in Liaoning province, before eventually reaching Shenyang.
The line began construction in July 2014, with total investment of 124.5 billion yuan ($20.4 billion).
Upon completion, which is expected during 2019, the new line will shorten the current journey from six hours to just two and a half, as it can accommodate trains traveling at speeds of up to 350 km per hour, and there will only be 20 stations constructed along the new line.
