Tusi refers to tribal chieftains governing non-Han ethnic groups in Southwest China, appointed by the central government from the 13th to the mid-20th century.

The area is made up of three sites – Laosichengin Hunan province, Tangya in Hubei province and Hailongtun Fortress in Guizhou province.

It was designated a cultural heritage on July 4, 2015.
