Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, has been included in the 2018 "The Best Summer Resort City" list; the third consecutive year the city has been given the accolade.
The award of the title was announced at the Fourth China Summer Tourist Summit held in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, Jilin province on July 7.
Boasting a pleasant climate and many tourism attractions, the coastal city in Shandong possesses 230 offshore islands, seven natural bays and a renowned golden beach, and has steadily gained popularity as a summer destination in recent years.
The summit honored ten cities in China, with fellow Qingdao city in Shandong province also being included on the list.
The others to make the list in 2018 are Dalian in Liaoning province, Changchun and Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture in Jilin province, Anshun and Guiyang in Guizhou province, Dali Bai autonomous prefecture and Kunming in Yunnan province, and Haerbin in Heilongjiang province.
Jointly held by the China Tourism Academy and China Meteorological Administration, the summit aims to promote sustainable development in China's summer resort tourism industry.
