Hainan Open helps promote golf

The 2018 Hainan Golf Open will encompass 30 matches with the number of golfers exceeding 3,000, according to a press conference held in Haikou, capital of Hainan province, on July 8. 

Besides 22 domestic and five global competitions to promote the Hainan Open, three main events will also be held. The National Junior Golf Championship will be carried out in Haikou from Aug 1 to 3, the International Golfers Championship will take place in Yangpu from Nov 22 to 24, and the European Challenge Tour will be organized in Sanya from Oct 11 to 14.     

The Hainan Open uses abundant big data resources offered by Alisports to provide professional services to golfers. The organizing committee also cooperates with 10 local middle and primary schools by providing free courses to raise students' interest in golf and popularize the sport. A series of support activities for the general public will also be held to raise understanding of golf and let people have a try by themselves.

The Hainan Open was sponsored by the China Golf Association and the Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publication and Sports of Hainan Province, and supported by the Hainan Tourism Development Commission, the Haikou and Sanya municipal people's governments, and the Administrative Committee of the Yangpu Economic Development Zone.

An international brand sports event initiated in 2009, the Hainan Open has contributed significantly to cultural and industrial development of golf, according to Pang Zheng, secretary general of the China Golf Association.
