Shenyang Palace Museum and the National Palace Museum of Korea signed a cooperation agreement in Shenyang, capital city of Northeast China’s Liaoning province on July 4.
Exhibition communication plans for the two museums over the next two years were confirmed.
In 2019, all the royal collections from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in Shenyang Palace Museum will be on display in the National Palace Museum of Korea. In return, the National Palace Museum of Korea will exhibit its collections of the ancient Korean royal family in Shenyang in 2020.
In addition, the two sides have reached consensuses on borrowing cultural relics off each other free of charge, exchanging academic information and data, as well as academic and personnel exchanges.
Both museums were established on the ruins of royal palaces, and both have rich collections reflecting the history, culture and lifestyles of their respective royal families.
Cooperation between the two museums will help strengthen cultural communications between Shenyang and Seoul, as well as promote city brands.
