New plant to provide Songbei residents with higher-quality water

Around 120,000 households in Songbei district of Harbin will gradually have access to higher-quality drinking water, as a newly-established water treatment plant of Harbin New Zone commences trial operations on July 5.

The water treatment plant project is in its first phase, covering an area of 100,000 square meters with constructions of conventional treatment areas, deep treatment areas, UV(ultraviolet) disinfection and backwashing equipment rooms, water pump rooms and transformer rooms.

The source of the water for the water treatment plant is Songhua River. 

Deep-processed water from the plant meets all of the 106 requirements of national standard for drinking water. 

Currently, water supply capacity of the new water treatment plant is 120,000 tons per day, and its further capacity can reach 40 tons per day as with completion of its expansion projects.
