The Zhanjiang Taxation Bureau of the State Administration of Taxation (SAT) was inaugurated on July 5, marking a major breakthrough in local tax reform.
The new organ was formed when the previous Zhanjiang Municipal Office of the SAT and the Municipal Local Taxation Bureau merged together.
The merger came in response to a decision adopted at the Third Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee to integrate the country's separate national and local taxation offices at or below the provincial level.
After the merger, the Zhanjiang Taxation Bureau of the SAT will oversee the collection and management of tax revenue, social security fees and non-tax revenue. Taxpayers will be able to handle all tax affairs at the comprehensive tax service hall.
With an efficient and unified tax system, Zhanjiang is striving to create a better business environment and an increased sense of gain for taxpayers, according to Luo Dajia, the chief economist of the Guangdong Taxation Bureau of the SAT.
