Yantai Port Group in East China's Shandong province handled a total cargo throughput of 160 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 16.6 percent, in the first half of this year, local media reported on Thursday.
Additionally, Yantai port Group achieved bauxite throughput of 55 million tons keeping Yantai in top place among China's ports for this statistic. Its container throughput reached 1.51 million, up 9.9 percent year-on-year.
Yantai port has also recently further improved the functioning of its logistic system, as well as opening new shipping routes to Xiamen and developing the Mazda and Beiqi new energy logistics project.
Yantai port has also achieved positive results in iron ore blending, container shipping and ro-ro passenger ships. In terms of roll-on ship passenger numbers, the port handled a total of 1.718 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 8.8 percent. The port has also made efforts to deepen cooperation with Brazil in order to increase iron imports.
The container ship Huide made its maiden voyage in the first half of 2018. It now runs as part of a container logistics network connecting Baohai Bay, the Pearl River Delta, East China, even South Korea and Japan.
