The city of Tianjin, the largest coastal city of North China, is seeking more talent exchanges with Taiwan.

An important part of the ongoing Tianjin-Taiwan Investment Cooperation Conference and this year's Tianjin-Taiwan Trade Fair, the talent session promoting the exchange of professionals between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Taiwan, was held on July 5.

It was intended to bring in more high-end professionals and human resource agencies from Taiwan to settle down in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

At the talent exchange fair, the Tianjin Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau issued a group of measures on deepening cooperation between Tianjin and Taiwan in various fields.

According to the measures, people from Taiwan can be treated as local residents in Tianjin in receiving entrepreneurship subsidies, attending vocational training programs and professional qualification examinations, as well as applying under the talent recruitment plan.

A group of agreements were signed at the event to promote human resource cooperation and exchange as well as research on policies and measures for facilitation of employment and entrepreneurship between Tianjin and Taiwan.

About 20 employers from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei offered more than 300 jobs to young people from Taiwan.

Li Yanping, secretary general of the China Association of Employment Promotion, said the fair is a pragmatic step in upholding the notion that "both sides belong to one family" and a vivid demonstration of deepening cross-strait economic cooperation and cultural exchange.

Taiwan youth are welcomed to work and start their own businesses on the Chinese mainland, said Li Huiting, deputy director of the Tianjin Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, adding that the city welcomes investment in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei from resource service providers from Taiwan.
